Akira Isogawa attend ID iD Dunedin Fashion Week, an international guest designers, following in the footsteps of the British fashion royalty Zandra Rhodes, who attended in 2010. His collection is displayed iD Runway Fashion Shows on Friday 8 and Saturday, April 9.
Akira arrives in New Zealand fresh show her autumn / winter collection at Paris Fashion Week. Since 1998, Akira has shown his collections in Paris, presented to international buyers and shown in Australian Fashion Week every year since 1996. His designs are available worldwide.
Named Designer of the Year and Designer of the Year Women's Clothing in the fashion industry in Australia in 1999, Akira brings a strong element of fashion week cultural and intellectual. His talent for innovation and his model-making skills and use of textiles is highly respected within the fashion industry. His work has generated positive reactions in magazines like The New York Times, Vogue U.S..
Born in Kyoto, Japan, Akira moved to Australia in 1986, where he studied fashion design at the Fashion Design Studio, East Sydney Technical College (now the Institute of Technology, Sydney). Local Fashion Design Studio and graduates are in New Zealand fashion designer Tanya Carlson (Carlson) and the Otago Polytechnic Margo Barton, professor of fashion.
Judges for the awards in 2011 International Emerging Designer ID include Akira Isogawa, designer Stefano Sopelza International Guest, project supervisor for the Fashion Award Mittelmoda, Italy, New Zealand and the famous designers Margi Robertson and Tanya Carlson (Carlson).
A public lecture will be given by Akira Isogawa in iD Dunedin Fashion Week, Thursday, April 7.
