New York Fashion Week

New York Fashion Week brought its avant-garde style Uptown this week, opens its spring collection preview on Thursday at a new location on the campus of Lincoln Center.

New York Fashion Week

Gone are the tents of Bryant Park, where hundreds of designers have launched the tracks since 1993. "Fashion designers are very creative. New York Fashion Week, which extends to other areas," the creation of great emotions reflected in the city, "said Mayor Michael Bloomberg. He noted that the mode is responsible for 175,000 jobs in New York, and two seasons of fashion shows impact of $ 750 million into the local economy.

Jessica Simpson took a job as a guest judge on Thursday "Project Runway" show at Fashion Week in New York in a super-short, shiny silver mini dress, but had not models, who spent an extraordinary amount of hot pants.

Champagne flowed all night until the early hours of Saturday morning in New York, where thousands of people took to the shops and department stores to celebrate the "Fashion Night Out" on celebrities.

Across the Big Apple, long queues formed Friday afternoon off from large stores such as Bloomingdale's, Saks Fifth Avenue, Barneys New York and Macy's, a jewelry and luxury boutiques are offered champagne and hors d'oeuvres selected with care for guests and customers.

Berlin Fashion Week | It's Complicated

BERLIN - This city is best known for its art scene and excellent bratwurst than its sartorial innovation, but with the third edition of the Berlin Fashion Week, held July 17 to 20 it is slowly changing. And while there's no point in comparing BFW's influence on the Paris, Milan and London as a showcase for German talent small, it is more than just good sausage to be found.

The week began with a blockbuster production from Hugo, the younger diffusion line Hugo Boss, on the banks of the Spree. Bruno Pieters, who took over the design a year ago, sent variations on the tuxedo black, white and royal blue, often accessorized with

starched bow; models like Olga Scherer, Alana Zimmer, Iekeliene Strange and Tanya D. tracked down the track as a restoration team intimidatingly chic. Kim Cattrall and Mischa Barton were in the audience, the latter sporting an unfortunate haircut that looked like a wig short wig combo-over-long. Pieters brought a touch Teutonic boxiness Belgian Boss, playing with the proportions and mixing masculine / feminine, androgynous trend with the mood that marked the recent men's collections.

That night, after a private dinner hosted by Hugo Boss at the Grill Royal, Joop! Jeans hosted his own show next to the infamous bacchanal Berghain disco, and very appropriate, packed with clothes perfect for the kid's club on a limited allocation. The vast sculptural hats and white geisha vibe is indebted to Alexander McQueen, a line of jeans, it was pretty impressive. Natasha Poly prowled on stage, accompanied by a plethora of anorexic young boys who are Berlin's special contribution to the world of modeling masochists. A decadent after-party followed at the Panorama Bar upstairs, where justice was spinning until dawn.

When it comes to brands, Berlin is well represented (although, interestingly, the German fashion-grandmother, Escada, which has been vainly tried to rebrand to attract a younger audience, chose not shown). But when it comes to less established designers, there is less to see. Some of the best young talents are off-site: Lala Berlin create a sophisticated ambience with sinuous cashmere sweaters elegant silk dresses to tailor your presentation to the Seven Star Gallery, while presents an eclectic group projektGalerie independent, often craft designers from all over Europe at the forefront of multiple exposure over Torstrasse Mitte.

Most successful German fashion design is centered around retaining Simplified (whose show Strenesse Blue, with its light weight fabrics, hems and small clean cuts was a commendable example), but sometimes it buttoned, hands-on approach gives rise to outside the order, as expressionist urge local favorite, Scherer Gonzalez, who seems to have something for twenty pounds of ball gowns and six inches Baroque Lucite platforms decorated with flowers. The result is an unequivocal argument for repression.

The last two sessions of the week were both imports. Anglomania by Vivienne Westwood was typically zany romp through his greatest hits, from iconic squiggle print dresses to asymmetrically draped and gathered between brilliant. The best show of the week, however, belonged to New York, Kai Kühne, who returned to the motherland to present its Signature collection. Kühne hit his stride by channeling a unique Helmut Newtonesque aesthetic: an army of straight hair, lipstick beauties stalked the runway in the skin taut, razor broad-shouldered pantsuits and complex seamed silk dresses in assorted metallic colors. In a culture dominated by cool supernatural, offers this kind of precision voltage sensual in the sexual power that works in composite exterior in Germany - and it is an approach that the designers of Berlin served us well to continue to investigate.

Instead of looking to other designers for inspiration, you just have to unzip its unique cultural heritage complex. What Lies Beneath (totalitarian tendencies, fetishistic sexuality, perfectionist zeal) are things that the genius of fashion is done.

Fashion Week Berlin | Very 'Project Runway'

As a big fan of emerging fashion week circuit, I could not wait for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin - It 's always interesting to see how many try to create an identity for local tailoring. But a funny thing happened on the way Bebelplatz, the historic square as the place Tented BFW. After spending 17 days straight fashion shows, fashion, first in Rio, Sao Paulo Fashion Week and the Paris couture, and finally, I was no longer a state of mind not to declare my support for the designer.

Fashion Week Berlin to take the same standards as the seam is clear does not make sense, but the show the audience seemed perplexed, as if they were invited to an exclusive Ritz Paris Soiree. Maybe they have seen too many episodes syndicated "The life of the rich and famous." Instead of the distillation of a powerful German-aesthetic and develop public relations and marketing infrastructure required for successful real people are more focused on blowing kisses champagne and indulging in dreams of caviar.

Which is a shame, because there was some solid talent on display. The most successful designers translated the German aspects of the city and modern aesthetics in the collections that had been asked to appeal. Scherer Gonzalez made a deluxe dressage sheared mink with capelets, herringbone jodhpurs, riding jackets and evening extravaganza of showstoppers, this season has been an appeal to the fashion.

Sisi Wasabi W390 image

Sisi Wasabi tailored jackets, dresses and touches of chiffon jagged so elegant tuxedo cheap, but avoided falling into a trap stopped. Beautiful silk dresses padded hips was a trend that emerged in Paris in Dior and Elie Saab, an apparent response to our dire financial situation as a silhouette visibly fertile.

Lac et Mel is a very commercial collection made from a confrontation with a dress designed with € 100,000 worth of diamonds, a smart strategy of PR that actually captured the attention of the press.

Bernard Willhelm has been an international attraction, this time, the next steps platformed of Vivienne Westwood, who showed here last season. Willhelm chose typically zany, off-site installation, which was fun and full of colorful prints, and art pieces that are well adapted to the city known as Street Style.

The sample was not left without its share of stars - Boris Becker and Milla Jovovich were the main attractions, respectively, Strenesse Blue and Black Hugo Boss, secondary lines like Calvin Klein, Vera Wang Lavender Label White and (I sense a trend toward color distribution lines) and model Julia Stegner, the new face of Maybelline and official ambassador for Mercedes-Benz, was also present - but that's not why people come BFW If you are interested in the list of B celebrity spotting, then head of Los Angeles, but if BFW is becoming a serious design showcase for the German fashion, then it must adopt an attitude that life is more real and less of the Project "runway."

Joop! Joop!

If there was a presentation that made an impression that it was particularly great Joop! Mega show 'at the Hamburger Bahnhof S blue-lit history. The show was cast with a gratin of the universe models: Maria Carla (who curiously absent from Givenchy fashion show, prompting some to wonder if she gave up and Riccardo), Natasha Poly, Alanna Zimmer, Tanya D Vlada Roslyakov. The clothes were designed and sober, with controlled doses of brilliance, but the most exciting moment came when Tanya D heel broke and without breaking his stride Glamazon, it still works with a needle intact and his second foot on the toes. Now that professionalism.

Where's The Love? | Fashion Week Berlin

The fifth Fashion Week Berlin, which is the shoe-horned between the men in the spring ready-to-wear and couture shows in Paris and fall is surrounded by no fewer than nine shows simultaneously, many journalists had a very international wonder why he bothered to attend. And do not hesitate to say that.

But last week, rejected a four-day event outright would be like shooting fish in a barrel. Too easy. Berlin Fashion Week is, after all, still in its infancy and should not be bound by the same standards, such as the stabilization of the Fashion Weeks. And like many offsite events illustrated the creative energy of the city, which is beyond doubt. The challenge for the organizers, IMG, is to channel that spirit into matter, focused on the best part of the German fashion has to offer.

As summarized by Wolfgang Joop a party for his label shows prodigy who, incidentally, in Paris: "Berlin has good products, good red carpets, the good parts, surf the best, but there is still work mode."

And although more than a few shows recalls the presentation of the biennial FIT - models without ill-fitting shoes and t-shirts just do not cut it - there were some standouts, in particular German-born New York, Kai Kühne (international guest This year, the predecessors of Bernhard Willhelm, and Vivienne Westwood) and two new Derya Issever and Sam Frenzel designers who competed in the race tomorrow. (For many of these eight were novice designers, and was the highlight of the week, this writer wants to Designers for tomorrow were today's designers.)

Kühne resumed autumn / winter collection which had already shown in New York, but it seems to combine the sensitivity of spring - and put everything techno soundtrack inspired by the '90s. Most of the models used by zombies slow and curry colored lips. Clothes were not unknown, but it is a style of Avena Gallagher.

The Issever 27 years has been strong start. A high score was the first look with a Peter Pilotto print blouse and a skirt, and decorated with marble and stones. It was as portable as it was stopped.

Frenzel, who won the competition for the engineers of tomorrow, has impressed in an impressive collection, which included a tight leather pants under a short skirt with a large display that seemed to be a nod to the high boots, a couple skirts Rodarte Nicholas Kirkwood with the fall of New York / Winter '09.

Slim cake, perhaps, but in a week, there was often more about Haute-production high-concept, he gave a glimmer of hope for the future of Fashion Week Berlin.

London Fashion Week: Best Eco-Fashion

What do you get when you cross the London Fashion Week (LFW) with the half-term? Answer: Scrum is a wicked people on the sidewalk outside the Museum of Natural History as a step fashion the stroller and children wait for the dinosaurs.

Heroically in the chaos of the designers of the collective ethic conducted roving renegade parade on the street. This man free feature half-dressed in their poverty and female models on the labels of ethics, as Elena Garcia and Tammam. Suddenly, a message of fashion and entertain the crowds. Perfect.

In the appropriate event, aesthetics, ethics LFW wing, opened its sixth season. The big draw was probably the fashion event of the inauguration of the Defra Sustainable Clothing Action Plan. Everyone seemed to be there: the fashion editors, Erin O'Connor, Defra, the Army and representatives of the major players such as Sainsbury and high M & S.

Lord Hunt, who launched the plan DEFRA, dry (sorry to be fickle, but it's fashion week). However, he stood on the track behind a transparent base and urged us to celebrate the "truly sustainable clothing" Now we want to see on the podium.

Then it was straight to Black monochromatic drama shows (see our photo gallery). Black is the Danish label that includes how to put sex appeal in ethical fashion in a way that will never Defra.

But is there any such thing as a truly sustainable fashion? Noir is actually a brand of crossover - using a part of sustainable fibers, but has earned his stripes on the ethical use of the seat in the European Union, transparent production. The show was a sure, confident, and worlds away from the tofu kaftans that combine some of the most ethical fashion, floating like clothes, jackets, velvet and leather leggings on the catwalk box thundered to a version of Radiohead's Creep. But ethically it is still a trade-off.

Unfortunately I missed Julia Smith show, which was simultaneously taking place in the emerging talent show, fashion Vauxhall scout. Smith is a young talented designers using sustainable fabrics and a carefully considered ethical ethics, but not position themselves as ethical.

Back in the Estehetica area could see many small, independent labels have developed ethics. Stand-out included Elena Garcia worked carefully trans-season suits, and there was the heritage, British-made brands such as Grey Anatomy Eloise is strong and adapted the classic English style with tweed wool and organic wool. But it was People Tree, the pioneering brand of 100% of fair trade that caught my attention with a strong collaboration with Eley Kishimoto prints dresses nicely.

By 8:00 p.m. I was in Notting Hill Beach Blanket Babylon show Prophetik. This is an American label run by Jeff Garner, a young man from Nashville with a penchant for riding boots. In fact, there was a horse out of the bar when we arrived, there may be no coincidence.

Jeff seems to be much more about "dress", using organic fibers and silk produced locally painted by elephants as part of the Asian Elephant Art & Conservation Project. I was delighted to see that the elephants could, but it proved to be so dark in there that it was difficult to see much.

Not good cohesion of the collection is, which featured nearly every dress that you could imagine - in Jersey Rouched tense and white for a minute, retro beach / prom the next day. Friends and associates (including boyfriend Rex from Big Brother last summer's) hit in the modeling, but a stellar contributor, Summer Rayne Oakes, the American model, which is a true eco-activist and extremely knowledgeable . So we had the substance progressive, a good star turn yet another show in the end of amateurism.

Everyone can learn from Junky Styling, East End Queens clothing reconstruction. Last night, opened the show with a new collection is launched with big features signature Top boutique super short skirts and jackets with molded collar and sleeve lengths different.

Junky also had jackets with their trademark striped costumes and open backed jackets, all accessorised with bright green tights. There were also ethical Men Welcome - we really need a little more than that - as reshaped by the knitted jumpers old. We also enjoyed a walk on the bridge by Michael Costiff Like that boy mouse as a nod to the heritage of fashion. This is the way to do it.

Paris Fashion Week Report

Fashion Week in Paris has shown an increasing trend towards minimalism. The emerging popularity of austerity brought the image of the city mesmerism Fashion Week with enthusiasm and not just a boring display. New varieties of designs definitely become the heart of young fashion designers and intrigued the public if the economy out of recession actually hits the textile industry. However, a resource of fashion have reported the common observations and trivial ways, this week, fashion in Paris is not. He surprised the media and the crowd.

The tradition of designing modern clothes for women, British tones of white, black and blue, is standing a long way. Trying to change this tradition requires a bold approach and superior design. These models and approaches have been around the fashion week. A simple black skirt and top in shiny proved to be less prudent and appropriate for women than for strong colorful clothing and accessories. Many of these revolutions would seem that the bright side of the city. Well known for its silk Gala approach has also been broken to make a silk dress with a stylish collar and no camel. Turkey has been cut close to the V-shaped at the waist fits waist size than normal. It looked good on fur boots and a belt the same color. Most of the elements of fashion were the shiny leather skins, instead of touching. Cutting stands with a polished boots, and belts back. Black and chocolate brown colors dominate the fashion week this time.

Aesthetic varied as fashion designers following is also evident if you look at the illustrations that have followed different during the fashion week in Paris. They have the opportunity to play with their hands in a wild and a calm manner. They hid several wonderful models that have emerged at the right time and showed all the new models at once the crowd wild incredible meal.

The famous shoulder toga dress sari and took the whole scene with new collaborations. Eek In each costume so that would be considered as the dress and sari eh. However, this fashion week was quite absurd precedent. Ackermann has shown its ability to display designs that contrast with the best sari fabrics.

Together the Fashion Week in Paris appeared to be a modern display of unusual thoughts outlet box.
